The first event in the Partnering with Certainy Webinar Series, "Customer Demands at the Edge." Trends like IoT are driving customer experience expectations in a way that demands resiliency in local edge environments. As a result, we’re seeing a rise of edge computing (compute power coming out of the cloud and into the access layer). Customer demands manifest themselves differently based on things like company size and segment. For example, a retail customer’s business imperatives might look different from a doctor’s office. But one thing remains constant: A standardized, redundant, and repeatable physical infrastructure can protect the availability of these now-critical access-layer IT assets. APC by Schneider Electric has: The solutions you need to deliver a standardized, redundant, & repeatable infrastructure to your customers The tools you need to configure them, The alliances & certifications you trust & rely on, The program to make it profitable. Part 2 in our Partnering with Certainty Webinar Series, "Customer Demands at the Edge." In our last webinar, we discussed how trends & technologies like IoT and its many applications have helped drive an Always On, Always Connected mentality that has completely evolved customer experience standards. These demands are driving a need for resiliency in local edge environments, meaning compute & storage capacity is now coming back on premise for many applications – especially in industries like Healthcare, Retail, Finance, and Education. In other words, this highly distributed access layer is now becoming a compute layer – one that is mission-critical to delivering a flawless (or at least acceptable) customer experience. These environments are often make-shift wiring closets (janitor’s closets, back rooms, etc.) with no dedicated IT staff per each location. More than ever before, Healthcare, Retail, Finance, and Education customers are turning to solution providers to be that “dedicated IT staff” to find and fix problems before they start, so that the customer (or patient, or student) experience they’re working to provide remains a good one. APC by Schneider Electric has: Connected Products making it easy to remotely monitor your customers’ environments Including our NEW Smart-UPS with APC SmartConnect – the industry’s first cloud-connected UPS! In the midst of an overwhelming amount of disruption taking place in the retail banking industry, a clear path to success has emerged. Banks that want to continue to gain and retain loyal customers must make it easier to bank with them. According to a survey that included 760 different banks and credit unions, the most important priority for 2017 and beyond is the removal of friction from the customer journey.1 To clarify, today’s customer journey includes both the customer experience at local branch locations as well as their experience while interacting with websites, mobile apps, smart watches, and anything else that is connected to the Internet. The battleground for customers has shifted to the digital world, and retail banks must adapt quickly as crafty Fintech startups and tech giants like Amazon, Apple, and Google continue to push the limits of what is possible with technology. If digital channels aren’t approached correctly, they can add complexity to the customer experience in

Only a handful of industries have been transformed by the digital age the way banking has. Internet and mobile banking, digital wallets, and a raft of new and innovative products have redefined “the bank” from a local, brick-and-mortar branch to an anytime-anywhere process. The new banking environment has opened opportunities for national, regional, and community banks alike, which are no longer constrained to serve only customers located in the areas where they maintain a physical branch presence. But it has also brought challenges associated with collecting, processing, analyzing, storing, and protecting vast amounts of new data, from multiple locations and sources.

Research shows that today’s in-store purchases tend to begin and end online. Even ready-tobuy consumers research online for nearby stores, go in-store to buy, and often leave a review about their experience. In turn, those reviews influence the purchasing decisions of your future customers. This makes it crucial for businesses to have a voice in those conversations, monitoring and responding to reviews and comments.

The healthcare industry is evolving at a rapid pace from both technology and business perspectives. New technologies are dramatically improving healthcare, from diagnostic imaging and scanning tools to the digitization of medical records. From the business side, the industry continues to consolidate, with metropolitan or regional medical providers absorbing local clinics and rural practices, and large retailers acquiring pharmacies, minute clinics, and urgent care facilities. As a result, many healthcare companies are now competing with retailers for business. This competition may be good for the customers (i.e., the patients) who are demanding higher levels of care and a better overall experience. This could mean better access to new diagnostic tests, test results, and specialists who may be located far from the patient’s location. Healthcare providers need to work toward providing the same care and experience to customers in their main facilities as they do in distributed clinics, ur

With grocery stores and meal kit services offering additional convenient and affordable dining options for customers to choose from, and with many restaurants turning to faster and smarter automation methods to power their operations, now is the time for your restaurant to step up its game. Ultimately, what your restaurant needs to do is offer a complete experience for your guests. The global financial crisis of 2008 still reverberates today. Sluggish economic growth, stricter regulatory requirements and rapidly changing consumer behavior are placing unprecedented demands on the banking industry. In recent years, banks – particularly those with substantial retail operations – have relied on the lethargy of their customers to maintain their business. Customer loyalty has been based more on proximity of local branches and convenience of ATM networks than the quality of customer care or products and services priced and tailored to a bank’s best customers. In response to the financial crisis, banks have focused on wringing complexity and costs from their systems – exacerbated by mergers and acquisitions – while dealing with new and tighter regulations. Yet, their traditional “one-size-fits-all” mass-marketing approach to customers has remained constant.

States, counties and municipalities have historically relied on local brick-and-mortar businesses to collect retail sales taxes. These businesses collected the sales tax from their customers, and then remitted the tax proceeds to their local sales tax jurisdiction. It was a straightforward process, and no one much quarreled with who owed the taxes and who would receive them. That straightforward proposition became complex with the rise of thousands of catalog merchants in the ‘70s and ‘80s. Catalog merchants sold to consumers nationwide, who began to shift their purchases away from local brick-and-mortar merchants. This reduced revenue to local sales tax jurisdictions because catalog companies rarely collected sales taxes from their customers. Download this White Paper for more information.
