The Augmented Human Enterprise is an independent academic study into the reality and future of automation and AI technologies in the workplace.
The future impact of automation and AI on businesses and the people working within them is under constant debate. Advocates hail a future utopia, detractors foresee our dystopian demise. But what's the reality today? A team of academics at Goldsmiths, University of London set out to investigate the real-life impact of automation on work and found that augmented workplaces–those with collaboration between human and machines–score 33% higher on factors deemed to make a workplace more human.
Safeguarding your data is more important than ever.
In today’s data-driven business landscape, companies are using their data to innovate, inform product improvements, and personalize services for their customers. The sheer volume of data collected for these purposes keeps growing, but the solutions available to organizations for processing and analyzing it become more efficient and intuitive every day. Reaching the right customers at the right time with the right offers has never been easier. With this newfound agility, however, comes new opportunities for vulnerability.
With so much riding on the integrity of your data and the services that make it secure and available, it’s crucial to have a plan in place for unexpected events that can wipe out your physical IT environment or otherwise compromise data access. The potential for natural disasters, malicious software attacks, and other unforeseen events necessitates that companies implement a robust disaster recovery (DR) strategy to

IT Managers are not in the business of luck. They need to prepare for every disaster scenario, every contingency and ensure that even when every object, job and process is running 100% perfectly on the system, some other unforeseen network element doesn't swoop in and ruin all their efforts, just because it resides outside the parameters of the System i. After all, in a situation like this, people remember the one thing that went wrong – not the millions of things that went right – it's unfortunate, but that's life.
The world of IT is undergoing a digital transformation. Applications are growing fast, and so are the users consuming them. These applications are everywhere—in the datacenter, on virtual and/or microservices platforms, in the cloud, and as SaaS. More and more apps are now being moved out of datacenters to a cloud-based infrastructure.
In order for an optimized and secure delivery of these applications, IT needs specific network appliances called Application Delivery Controllers (ADCs). These ADCs come in hardware, virtual, and containerized form factors, and are sized by Network Administrators based on the current and future usage of applications. The challenge with this is that it’s hard to foresee sizing or scalability requirements for these ADCs since users are constantly increasing, and applications are consistently evolving, as well as moving out of datacenters.
Complicating matters, most ADCs are fixed-capacity network appliances that provide zero or minimum expansion capability
Businesses need to plan for unforeseen events that can disrupt productivity, impair the customer experience, and possibly even threaten a business’s existence. A disruption every business needs to plan for is any event that destroys valuable data, inhibits access to data, or causes downtime of core applications.
Consider the staggering amount of information your company stores electronically. What if an unforeseen event destroyed all financial records, client contacts, and application data? You wouldn’t be able to send customers accurate invoices. Your marketing efforts might be undermined. You would lack key metrics for measuring quality, profitability, and more. The losses could be staggering.
In every aspect of life, it’s smart to plan for unexpected events. That’s especially true for two plans every business must have: a disaster recovery plan and a business continuity plan.
In this white paper, we examine notable trends and events in physical security from 2014 and assess what security professionals should expect in 2015. 2014 was truly an unpredictable year in the physical security and executive

Looking ahead to 2015, we predict that local issues will continue to gain global importance, threat actors and activists will find new ways to utilize social media to spread their messages, and the lines between physical and digital threats will continue to converge. We also highlight ongoing developments in France,
Mexico, Ukraine, and Germany.
